Pasadena Parks After Dark Programs AnnouncedThe City of Pasadena’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (PRCS) invites the community to the 11th annual Parks After Dark programs that run through Aug. 6, 2022. Parks After Dark takes advantage of Pasadena’s beautiful summer evenings by activating park spaces to provide youth and their families opportunities to experience healthy recreation and active lifestyles. Programming is led by PRCS with strong support from partners, including other City departments, Armory Center for the Arts, Let’s Teach, Day One, and other community organizations.
“Wednesdays through Saturday evenings will be extra fun this summer. Please join us for a slew of free recreation opportunities that range from organized sports leagues and tournaments to movies to swimming to art workshops. It’s going to be a blast!” says Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Brenda Harvey-Williams. All activities are free. Pre-registration at cityofpasasdena.net/reserve is recommended; on-site registration will also be available. Art Chalk Event | Wednesday, Aug. 3, 6-7:30 p.m. Robinson Park Outdoor Basketball Courts. Join Armory Center for the Arts for an interactive chalk mural installation. Resulting murals will be on display for two weeks after the event. Glow Sports | Wednesdays, through Aug. 3, 8-9:30 p.m. Villa Parke Softball Field. Come light up the night! The glow sports are interactive carnival-style games. Invite family, friends and neighbors to this friendly, nontraditional setting that will delight everyone. Adult Basketball | Thursdays, through Aug. 4, 6-10 p.m. Youth (High School) Basketball | Saturdays, July 16 – Aug. 6, 6-9 p.m. Robinson Park Recreation Center Gym Pasadena is well-known for having skilled basketball players! Register your team to compete and demonstrate your game. All levels welcome. Teams are guaranteed one 20-minute game per week for four weeks in Robinson Park’s gym. 7 vs. 7 Soccer | Thursdays, through Aug. 4, 6-10 p.m. 18-34 year olds, and 35+ Villa Parke Turf Field. 7 vs. 7 soccer games are fast-paced, high-scoring, and big fun! Two games will be played simultaneously. All teams are guaranteed one game per week for five weeks. Divisions are organized by age. Teen Movies | Thursdays, through 21, 7-9:30 p.m. La Pintoresca Park Teen movie night at La Pintoresca Park! Bring your lawn chairs/blankets, and enjoy free movies under the stars. Boxing “Sparring” | Thursday, July 28, 5-8 p.m., July 28 at Robinson Park, Learn boxing basics by developing your stance, footwork, balance, punches and defenses. Movies in the Park | Fridays and Saturdays, through Aug. 6, Dusk Villa Parke, Victory Park, Grant Park, Washington Park, La Pintoresca Park, and Robinson Park Multipurpose Field. Our popular Movies in the Park series is back! Come early to find a great viewing spot and participate in pre-movie activities, including arts & crafts and games. Pasadena Public Health Department will administer Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines and boosters to everyone age 5+. Vaccines are available at no cost. Pre-registration available at MyTurn.ca.gov.
