The annual Summer Reading Program is synonymous with summer for the Pasadena community. Since 1921, Pasadena Public Library has held its Summer Reading Program helping children retain knowledge and skills learned in school throughout the summer, furthering social-emotional development, discovering the joy of stories, and the importance of lifelong learning. Through programming and activities, the program enriches academic engagement, fosters an opportunity for community connection through shared experiences and inspires children to read for enjoyment. Parents and teachers agree summer reading matters.
This year’s theme, “Read Beyond the Beaten Path,” encourages participants to explore ideas that are new or unknown to them and forge their own path in life. Children, teens, and adults are invited to sign up online at https://pasadena.beanstack.com/reader365 or stop by the Allendale, Hastings, Hill Avenue, Lamanda Park, La Pintoresca, Linda Vista, San Rafael, Santa Catalina or Villa Parke branch libraries to sign up in person.
