World in an Uproar, Everbody’s Stealing
Every day we awake to hear more about the Republican Scheme to destroy democracy and become an American Dictator. On other television channels we hear about young Black and Brown Americans doing a Smash and Grab from Nordstrom and other brick and mortar stores, trying to take their share of the American wealth. Republicans are, likewise, taking their alleged share of power and Black Americans’ right to vote, one way, while young Americans are taking their share, another way. You have to ask, “What’s the difference?” Both are taking a share in the openness of daylight. While this is going on, those of you who are trying to get to heaven are trying to do it right. Earn it. The words of a Burt Bacharach song say, “You Can’t Get to Heaven If You Break My Heart.” Part of me wants to say that the Tornados are God’s way of taking vengeance for the things southerners did to Black folks during slavery. I have no evidence of this, so I will not proclaim that. Plus, the tragedy of the Tornado affects us all. I can only join in the request for prayers and call on the Spirit of God to help those in need. As I read parts of the 1619 Project, by Nikole Hannah Jones, I see a family who left the south for a better way of life and with her family in tow, she landed in Iowa only to discover that Jim Crow was there too. We as Americans have all worked hard to make America a great country and we have done that. What we need to do now is work together to keep it a great country to be shared by all. The Tornado tells us that we are building, something to be shared by all who come to join the struggle to make it great enough to share. We have built churches to worship in, schools to educate our young, and joined in the technological gains and accomplishments of the world. We have a world where we can go to schools and receive training to make our individual lives better. I was a Barber, then I returned to School and became a Lawyer. What is next? Who knows? I married a girl near sixty years ago. It was just the two of us, but working together, we conquered our little world and stayed together as we watched our tribe grow and gain things that included education, Real Estate, vehicles, and grandchildren added to our tribe with pride. The Tribe has had hard times and good times. We have stayed faithful to one another and to our God, and he has rewarded us. We have set goals as individuals and as a tribe. God has stretched forth his hand and made the goals realities. Unlike the Republicans, and others with selfish goals, togetherness has been our watch word. The Republicans also want to return to a period where Black people do not have the right to vote. I say we need to send money to Black Voting Rights to help fight against them. The Republicans have needed to use crooked police officers, crooked military officers and soldiers to come together with illegal goals and to promote illegal results. I wonder if they realize that a positive goal helps more people and achieve more results? I note that the prisons were created for those with illegal goals. rewards and awards were created for those who work hard to do the right thing. |
