Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back by Kenosha, Wisconsin police but refused to die. He joins the roll call of young Black people getting shot for being Black. He joins George Floyd, Emmett Till, Ahmaud Abery, Breonna Taylor, Medgar Evers, Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Sandra Bland, and many more names too numerous to mention.
Blake was unarmed and supposedly had a knife in the vehicle, and while he lay in the hospital, paralized A seventeen year old white kid from Illinois was shooting three men. Two of them died, and the shooter was not arrested. Instead, he was awarded and provided with a bottle of water while he was illegally carrying a and running down the middle of a public street, putting his hands up, almost begging to be arrested. Nothing. The police only waved to him and kept driving by. Trump later defended him by saying he was probably acting in self defense. Just think if he had been a black boy. A double standard? Dylan Ruth the killer of nine members of a black congregation called, “the Divine Nine” at their church participating in bible study was provided with a burger after shooting and killing. Sounds like a double standard to me. In spite of what the president calls black and brown people and are how they are treated by Trump who calls them “thugs, sons of bitches, rapists and criminals”, it is baffling to me why in that they result in a black men and brown men voting for Trump. I guess they don’t get it. However it’s good to see black men coming together in social groups, church groups, and fraternities, and standing up against Trump’s tactics. It’s also good to see black athletes stand up to the fraud perpetrated by the President, removing our mail boxes and firing mail men. These men are boycotting ballplayers from the NBA and the WNBA, the NFL, and Tennis Pros, join women in opposing this president. They join the historical sports personalities such as Muhammad Ali, Bill Russell, John Carlos, and Tommie Smith, among other basketball, baseball and football players such as Colin Kapernack. I can only say, “Wake up”, the guy in the White House wants to become your leader for life, not just the next four years. WAKE UP. Look at your historical sports leaders, and follow their lead. Trump put on an illusion of facts for public consumption, telling the world that no one has done more for Blacks than him, other than President Abraham Lincoln. At the RNC (Republican National Convention), a Black woman gave him credit for getting her out of prison. Another black man said thanka for pardoning him from a bank robbery conviction. Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson genuflected to Trump for making him head of Health and Human Services. I can only say he merely exposed how dumb he is. He famously said the Pharoah’s in the Bible built the pyramids to store grain. Dumb! I give praises to Reverend Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III who put on the second March on Washington to demonstrate to the world that we still have a long way to go. But we must go. With regard to Kenosha, Wisconsin, we await a result as to whether Trump’s lies will get more votes than truth. Trump wants us to believe if we elect Biden there will be violence and chaos. In fact, we have violence and chaos RIGHT NOW ON HIS WATCH! Don’t fall for the double standard. On a sad note, our condolences to the family of actor Chadwick Boseman who died this week of colon cancer. Boseman was a gifted actor. He mastered his trade and portrayed the characters magnificently. He played the part of entertainer James Brown, baseball great Jackie Robinson, Chief Justice Thurgood Marshall, boxer Muhammad Ali, and the movie hit, “Black Panther”. |
