A historic Breakfast to highlight African American women brought together the leaders from local chapters of Black Women's leadership and service organization from the San Gabriel Valley. Leaders from the Links, Alpha Kappa Alpha, the Deltas, Jack and Jill, Phi Delta Kappa, and Women in Action were honored as the Journal's 2010 Women of Achievement.
The event, held at the Rose Bowl's Brookside Golf Club, played to a packed house as the leaders were praised for their service to the community. Charmayne Mills Ealy of Jack & Jill, Yolanda Oliver of The Links, Gwen McMullins of the Deltas, Kelly Lawson of Phi Delta Kappa, Alison Moses of Women In Action, and Elise Mallory of Alpha Kappa Alpha received awards as Women of Achievement, personally, and as leaders of their respective organizations.
The Journal presented the awards as part of their third Annual Women of Achievement activities. As individuals the women hold Doctorates, MBA's , Juris Doctorates and a variety of educational and career achievement certificates. Their lives are inspirations to others. Their organizations serve the communities in areas of health and education and many other ways. The Keynote speaker Dr. Rosie Milligan founder of Milligan Publishing acknowledged their service to the community and admonished them to keep moving forward. The program was emceed by Dr. Pamela Powell with entertainment by Brother Yuseff and Jerice Kenebrew. Rev. Frances E. Harris of Hillside Tabernacle COGIC offered the prayer. The crowd expressed excitement about future programs to honor more Women of Achievement.
