Golden Soror Elizabeth Boone was born on July 2, 1915 in Burlington New Jersey. She was raised on a farm in Beverly, New Jersey with her five siblings. Her early education took place in New Jersey. In 1936, Soror Boone married her high school sweetheart, William Henry Boone III, who was fondly nicknamed "Bear." Bill and Elizabeth attended college together and Soror Boone graduated from Virginia State College in 1939 and later received her Masters Degree from the University of Michigan in 1947. Their worldly union lasted a month short of 62 years when Bill passed in 1998. Together they had two children, Paula Elizabeth Boone (Wood) and William Henry Boone IV. "Grandmomma" is extremely proud of her four grandchildren, Stephen and Stacey Wood and Sarah and Samantha Boone.
It was during her stay at the University of Michigan that she pledged and joined the Beta Eta undergraduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 1940. She spent more than 30 years working in the field of education as a teacher and high school counselor. In 1980, she retired as a counselor from Blair High School in Pasadena. In 1962 she joined the Eta Lambda Omega, Altadena-Pasadena graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She served as Basileus of the chapter in the 70's, and over the years has served on virtually every committee. For the last several years she served as a Member-At-Large and provided general wisdom and council. Today at 94, and despite some heath challenges, Soror Boone is still a regular fixture at sorority meetings and Sunday church services.
