The Altadena Chapter of TLOD, INC. recognized and honored four distinguished ladies of Altadena and Pasadena- namely Berlinda W. Brown, Dr. Gerda Govine, Dr. Jacqueline Jacobs and Brenda L. Sharp. Collectively these ladies have made outstanding contributions of their communities and also outside of their own communities. They have participated in campaigns, fundraising for health issues, service to our youth, and they have served on many boards and have exemplary leadership qualities.
Each lady holds an impressive position in private industry or the public educational sector.
TLOD, INC. is an international, service-oriented, non-profit organization, having as its primary mission the mentoring and developing of teens and parenting their organization (Top Teens of America); enhancing the lives of senior citizens; beautifying the community; recognizing the status of women; and engaging in community partnerships with local and national organizations in a collaborative effort to carry out their programs and projects.
The organization was proud to present for the second year fifteen (15) year old violinist virtuoso, Victor Ekpo, who performed a classical rendition bringing the audience to their feet with applause and appreciation. Dinner music was provided by Richard James and "The Second Time Around" group.
Each year a highlight of the luncheon is a hat fashion show. Ladies modeled with grace and style, showing the gorgeous hats of vendor- "Hats by Hanna Starr", with commentary by Delma Tyreebee. Clothing and accessories by vendor Debby Chapman were available for purchase, as well as the hats. Photographer for the evening was Mike Bonner. Dr. D. Marie Battle served as the Mistress of Ceremonies. Honorees were presented by Peggy Townsend and Ollie Morris. Reva Waldron Turner is president of the Altadena Chapter of TLOD, INC.
