The Los Angeles Chapter of Langston University National Alumni Assoc., Inc. will hold its 8th Annual Roaring Lions Scholarship Luncheon on Sunday, July 18, 2010.
The celebration will take place at 1:00 p.m., at The Proud Bird in Los Angeles, CA.
The keynote speaker for this event is Attorney Joe C. Hopkins. Attorney Hopkins is the owner and publisher of the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley Journal News and past president of the West Coast Black Publishers Association.
The LA Chapter provides scholarships to young college students attending Langston from the greater Los Angeles area. Members include the Los Angeles Inter Alumni Council in conjunction with The United Negro College Fund which consists of representatives from Historical Black Colleges and Universities.
JoAnn W. Haysbert, Ph.D., is president of Langston and the first Black female president of an accredited university in the State of Oklahoma.
Also honored at the luncheon will be the chapter's Distinguished Alumnus 2010, Adolf Dulan. Dulan is the owner of several successful local businesses. Over the years he has made generous contributions of support to the association and the university.
The luncheon tickets are $50.00, and all proceeds are tax-deductible. The Proud Bird is located at: 11022 Aviation Blvd. Los Angeles, CA.
