National Black Farmers Association Support Shirley Sherrod’s Call to Forgive Vilsack

John W. Boyd, Jr., founder and president of the National Black Farmers Association, released the following statement:

"...I received a call from Shirley Sherrod. Ms. Sherrod, showed the nation she is a woman of grace. She told me she has forgiven Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack for firing her and that she does not support those who have called for his resignation. Ms. Sherrod's statement is a positive development and it is one that we as an organization support and are asking our members and friends to do the same."

"Nevertheless, we continue to be concerned that USDA has not moved quickly enough to investigate why no USDA staff were ever fired for discriminating against Black farmers and others."
