Sammy Davis Jr. and friends is a cabaret style show with David Williams as Sammy Davis. Williams takes you through Sammy's life through music and dialogue. He shares his passion for the art...his confrontation with racism...his friendship with Frank Sinatra and his marriages to Mae Britt and Altovise Gore. You will hear some of his most popular songs including Bojangles. Williams shares the stage with Suzanne Nichols who appears at Eartha Kitt.
Williams (from California) career began singing in church with the Praise and Worship team. The experience was so exhilarating that Williams decided to go into musical theatre performing in such shows as "Jesus Christ Super Star", "Godspell", "Hello Dolly" and more. However it was when he was invited by a friend to perform Sammy Davis Jr. at Universal Studios that he fell in love with Davis and his music. Williams says "It is such an honor to play this icon, Sammy Davis epitomizing the quintessential talent. He sang, played a variety of instruments, acted and did impersonations. It is my blessing to pay tribute to such an iconic star". Williams has invited Suzanne Nichols to share the stage with him as Eartha Kitt.
Nichols hails from Oakland, California. After earning a degree in theatre from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA; she went on to study at ACT. She has played such varied roles as Lutibelle in the Black Repertory Theatre production of Purlie; Horatio in a Shakespeare in the Park production of Hamlet. On playing Eartha Kitt, Suzanne says, "It is both an honor and a challenge to portray a complex woman who is not only iconic, but a true independent woman who does not allow society or the world of entertainment to define who she is. Her strength of character is an inspiration."
