Put Your Fork Down

Pastor Glovioell Rowland

"When you sit to dine with a ruler, note well what is before you, and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony."(Proverbs 23:1-2 NIV)

At first, it felt like I would melt!

I had to suck it up and face the challenge I was dealt! I gained 6 lbs before; and now, it was time to declare war!

No more fat on this body of mine. I gained it in 2008, and would purge it in 2009.

I went back to fruit and vegetables for sure and all the physical activity I could endure.

I felt refreshed and secure.

An extra tidbit, and mystery really became a key! I ate smaller amounts and chewed my food thoroughly!

At first, I felt like a dork. Chewing my food multiple times before picking, back up, my fork.

You see, after every mouthful, I put my fork down. As I sat there chewing-at first-I felt like a clown.

We're not taught to do this at all. My hand felt useless while it was on call!

It felt different--swallowing well-masticated food. Now, I'm taking my time, and it doesn't seem rude!

I'm having nice conversations with my eating mates. Chomping things down quickly, sure can wait.

More than anything, it allows my body time for signaling.

It sends messages to my brain-Hey! You're full; it's time to abstain!

I've lost the 6 pounds!

And praising God all around town!Dear Pastor Glovioell,

Diets make me sick! I better lose this weight some other way!

There's got to be another way

Dear There's got to be Another Way, There is!

You and your desires are in a duel!

Wanting to eat as much as you can, is cruel. Because food is not just for pleasure, but primarily for fuel!

Limit food with high energy density. Eating fruit and vegetables are the key!

Then put your fork down between bites; and enjoy smaller portions, gradually.

You'll see yourself lose weight happily.
