Members of the Eta Lambda Omega Chapter (Pasadena/Altadena) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrated the accomplishments of the Commission on the Status of Women in Pasadena and Los Angeles on March 26, 2009 at 626 Reserve Wine Bar in Downtown Los Angeles. The event was entitled "Power Networking in the New Millennium." As part of one of the sorority's many platforms, The Non-Traditional Entrepreneur, Eta Lambda Omega coordinated this networking event to mark the end of Women's History Month.
Special honored guests at the event were Kellie Hawkins, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women and Rita Gail Turner, Executive Director of the Pasadena Commission on the Status of Women. Over 50 attendees celebrated their accomplishments, passed out business cards, as well as supported the Black-owned business 626 Reserve Wine Bar.
Eta Lambda Omega has also promoted the series "The Art of Small Business" for the City of Pasadena, which are free seminars geared towards entrepreneurs and small business owners. Seminars are from January, 2009-June, 2009 held at the Rose Bowl Press Box. Upcoming seminars include:

Alpha Kappa Alpha realizes that women are seizing the reins of entrepreneurship because they realize that it is the key to economic survival. As they become more of the business landscape and their enterprises grow, women are coming face to face with the challenges of managing and expanding new ventures. In support of this effort, power networking opportunities and support for the non-traditional entrepreneur will continue to be the focus for Eta Lambda Omega chapter.
