The Barbers and Cosmetologists of the Pasadena/Altadena area are excited about our 11th annual Sickle Cell Anemia Lip Sync benefit,which will be held at the Pasadena City College, Sexton Auditorium, Sunday, April19,2009.
Each year the goal is to elevate the level of talent, with that in mind, one of the hottest Jazz bands in Southern California (Jazz Zone) will be performing live, outside from 1pm - 2pm, to kick off this year's benefit. There will also be food tasting provided by the fine culinary skills of Melody's soul food restaurant. The doors to the auditorium will open at 2pm The show is from 2:30pm to 5pm.
The director of the show, Mr. Melvin Martin, stated, "Without a shadow of a doubt, our audience will receive the best show in our history." He also stated that if you have never had the opportunity to attend any of the previous Lip Sync fundraisers.........this year's event is a must. During these economically challenging times, it is truly the best bargain in town at only $15/ticket.
The stylists urge you to come out, bring the family, and see your favorite hair stylists like Mr. Luke Walker perform (as Little Richard), Tammy Griffin (as Aretha Franklin), Leza Price (Donna Summers), Lawrence & Colbert (Surprise!!!), and Katy Townsend (as Mahalia Jackson). There will also be a special surprise salon performing the Temptations, Tina Turner,En Vogue,Luther Vandross, and many many more. You may also anticipate incredible costumes, provided by Star Makers Costumes and Ms. Q.
Roger Brown of the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California (SCDFC) shared with the significant of this year's benefit for "Camp Crescent Moon." He stated that it would not be possible for kids living with Sickle Anemia to attend summer camp without the generosity of the people of Pasadena/Altadena. Ms Katy Townsend and her team of volunteers stated that they will not allow that to happen.
Wanda Griffin (VP, LaRan Professional Hair Care System) and Lorenzo Griffin (President of LaRan Professional Hair Care System) and founder of Cosmetologist and Barbers against Sickle Cell Anemia are campaigning wherever their products are sold in California, Nevada, Arizona,Texas and North Carolina, on behalf of Sickle Cell Anemia. The Griffin's said "This is a cause that we are committed to because we realize that we can make a difference in this world by giving back as well as giving forward.What we do for ourselves dies with us, but what we do for others live through eternity."
