The "State of Pasadena" article is both thought provoking, and critical to improving the way ALL citizens experience living and working in Pasadena!
The leadership of the Pasadena Police Department is especially prone to governance by intimidation. The two Black employees mentioned in this article are but the "tip of the iceberg" as examples or the way ALL rank-and-file employees experience the subjective and intimidating environment within which they must function every day, while at the same time attempting to protect and care for the citizens of Pasadena.
The Mayor and Council retained a private attorney last year to explore complaints that were generated by employees of the Police Department. Perhaps the release of her "findings" would be a good place to begin an objective evaluation of the "management style" of the current leadership of the Police Department.
I hope that such an open and, as the Chief often claims, "transparent" evaluation and discussion of the operation of the Police Department can now occur within the pages of the Pasadena Journal!
