The Pasadena Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will be celebrating the 21st year of their Annual Scholarship and Salute to Mothers Luncheon and Fashion Show on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Glendale Hilton Hotel in Glendale from 11 AM - 3 PM.
The event will award six $1500 Scholarships and one $750 Book Award to graduating high school students headed to college from the Pasadena/Altadena/ San Gabriel Valley Area.
The event will also recognize four mothers that have made significant contributions to the community and thank them for their hard work. Titled, "It's All About Hats," this event will support Black entrepreneurs that will be on hand to offer their products and services to guests. The latest in fashion will be sported during the Fashion Show which will also highlight this year's theme ~ Hats.

The Pasadena Chapter of AKA uses monies from this event to provide scholarships and do programs that benefit the Pasadena/ Altadena community like donations to Union Station, a Health Resource Fair, a Scholarship Workshop, activities to support black entrepreneurship, our Young Writers and Young Scientists programs which target Washington Elementary students and more.
