Sacramento, CA - Assemblymember Cheryl R. Brown (D-San Bernardino) issued the following statement today on a report card released by StudentsFirst on Monday:
"When my child came home with an "F" on their report card, I went to the school to find out why. There is no question that we need to continue to improve California's education system. While we've made some progress in certain sectors, we still have far too many students who are not meeting California's academic standards. We shouldn't dismiss nor neglect the views of any interest groups and organizations working to improve our schools. A report like the StudentsFirst report card is a wake-up call that underlines the need for improving California's education system. Furthermore, I believe that all children should have access to a quality education. This can only be achieved when we all work together, drop our differences and unite as a coalition for the benefit of our children and young adults."
