Pasadena Educational Foundation, PUSD, City of Pasadena and Community to Help Families Affected By Fire

Pasadena, CA -– Approximately 25 families, including several Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) students, have been displaced and have lost many of their belongings after a devastating fire on Sunday, February 24 at an apartment complex on the 700 block of North Worchester Avenue in Pasadena. Ongoing resources have been extended to these families by the American Red Cross and through assistance from the city of Pasadena. PUSD and the Pasadena Educational Foundation are teaming up to help with monetary donations and retail and restaurant gift cards to support long term care for these families.

PUSD's Healthy Start staff is conducting intake sessions to provide case management for the victims to help ensure needs are met and residents do not go homeless during this time of transition. PUSD's Families in Transition program will provide food, clothing, toys and other needed resources, such as transportation for school-age youth to and from school. The Pasadena Housing Department and Friends in Deed are actively working to arrange long-term housing for those without friends or family to stay with.

A Fire Relief Fund has been set up and will be managed through the Pasadena Educational Foundation. Funds will go to help fire victims with temporary housing costs, relocation assistance and other household needs.

Monetary donations can be made to:

Pasadena Educational Foundation
351 S. Hudson Avenue, Room 153
Pasadena, CA 91109
