Community Supports the Henrietta Lacks Health and Bioscience High School

To follow up on news of the nation's first school named after Henrietta Lacks, there is a great community project underway.

The Vancouver Washington school district and the Regional Library District are working together in anticipation of the opening of the Henrietta Lacks Health and Bioscience High School this fall.

A community-wide reading of "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Portland Oregon author Rebecca Skloot is organized. Free books are available and there will be a series of discussions to be held beginning mid-March. People are encouraged to pass the book to someone else to read or return it to the library where it will then be donated to the HeLa School School.
