Fundraising Concert, African Dance, Poetry and Honors Ceremony Extravaganza in support of the Pasadena Launching of the SEE A MAN, BE A MAN mentoring project!

Pasadena, California, Saturday, March 30, 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m., at the Alkebu-lan Cultural Center, 1435 N. Raymond Avenue., Pasadena, California 91103. The Alkebu-lan Cultural Center, along with FAMLI, Inc., the C.A.R.R.E. Foundation, 1iMall.com and the We Can Foundation have joined together to present a fundraising concert, performing arts and honors ceremony to launch and support the See a Man, Be a Man – 2013 male mentoring project for young men of color.

The event features live in concert, nationally known A'capella doo wop vocal group, Street Corner Renaissance, along with Nu-soul vocalist Faleisha Diamond Reese, ace vocal group 2Plus2, singing your favorite Motown hits, and superb spoken word artist Lorenzo to name a few.

Further, these organizations are honoring one of Los Angeles's most cherished cultural treasures, Mr. James V. Burks, Founder of the African Marketplace & Cultural Faire! Mr. Burks is a virtual legend in Los Angeles, and will accept a lifetime achievement award from the consortium.

See A Man, Be A Man mentoring project is a comprehensive, concise, outcome oriented project for young vulnerable males of color. Activities consist of monthly book readings, film screenings, facilitated workshops, educational/culturally enriching trips and outings, interactive discussion and group and one-to-one mentoring.
