Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich Named Honorary Chairman for Mentoring & Partnership for Youth Development Annual Fundraiser Dinner

Antonovich to be named Honorary Chairman for Mentoring & Partnership for Youth Development at annual fundraiser dinnerMentoring & Partnership for Youth Development (MPYD) will be holding its Sixth Annual Fundraiser Dinner on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Brookside Golf Course, located at 1133 Rosemont Avenue, Pasadena, CA. Themed "Preparing Today's Young Men for Tomorrow," the usually sold out event will be hosted by Honorary Chairman, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. Writer, Broadcaster, Public Speaker Cameron Turner will serve as the Master of Ceremony. Judge Victor Wright of the State of California Superior Court will be the Keynote Speaker. The event starts at 5:30 pm.

Slated to be honored are Beverly Tate, Professor, Pasadena City College; Helen Goodman, Volunteer; Miguel Reyes, John Muir High School Alumni; The San Gabriel Valley National Council of Negro Women; and the Vons/Safeway Foundation.

"MPYD is recognizing honorees whose line of work reflects the organization's own mission to provide support and mentorship to young males at John Muir High School," remarked Tecumseh Shackelford, MPYD chairman. This mission includes offering guidance to young men to achieve disciplined goals, while gaining the respect of the community and maintaining a positive image.

[MPYD was founded in 2002 by several community men who were called to action by former John Muir High School principal, Dr. Eddie Newman. Principal Newman requested the men's help to mentor the young men at the historic high school. Half a decade later, MPYD continues to provide support and mentorship to young males at John Muir High School through academic achievements, scholarships, social skills development, family relations enhancement and future education and employment resource referrals.]
