No Service for Senior Citizen

Dear Editor,

Approximately four years ago, I was a patient at CHAPS Dental Clinic. This Clinic, is the facility for Dental Care at the CHAPS building located on Fair Oaks and Tremont Avenue in Pasadena. I was concerned that the facility had hired no African Americans or other races than Hispanic.

I noticed that 90% of all the patients were Hispanic and only a few African Americans. I did not see any African Americans as employees at this facility. My question was why?

Their response was "We don't have the funds to advertise for job openings." The only people that were hired were Hispanic.

I recently visited the new Mike Antonovich Dental Clinic and I noticed that the clerks at the counter were Hispanic too. The only African Americans I saw were the security people and parking lot attendants, and to my knowledge, these employees are acquired through outside service agencies.

My question again is, "Why are the African Americans not represented?"
