(Washington DC) – Today, Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-CA), member of the House Judiciary Committee released the following statement after Attorney General Eric Holder's testimony on Capitol Hill:
"I commend the Attorney General for coming before Congress in an effort to provide clarity on a number of issues the American people have questions about. What is clear is that the IRS overreached by inappropriately targeting organizations based on their political affiliations and that we must get all the facts out concerning the hacking of reporter phone records. But what is less clear and most concerning to me, is whether or not Congress will rise to the challenge of not letting politics corrupt the quest for answers and accountability in both of these matters. Before today, Republicans were already beating their resignation drum for the Attorney General before the facts had come out. The American people deserve better and time will tell if this Congress can put politics aside to act in the best interests of the American people instead of the next election."
