Open Letter Altadena Residents

Many constituents have asked the question of what exactly prompted my request for the Altadena Town Council to amend their bylaws to reflect the Brown Act. Since I have been accused for a simple error of a use of wording that has since been corrected and apologized for, I have been unduly harassed and subject to an Investigation Committee that was formed during a "special Closed Session Meeting".

This has obviously created the need for me to get up to speed on the bylaws, Robert's Rules of Order, and the Ralph M. Brown Act. No training has yet been offered by the Altadena Town Council for its newly elected Councilmembers.

Although not all of the Councilmembers agreed with the Chairman's actions, I believe that the actions taken by the Altadena Town Council have not been in the best interest of the community.

It is my opinion...[there are]...violations of the bylaws of the Altadena Town Council and the Brown Act.

Herbert H. Simmons
