Free Ministry Training Program

Pasadena, CA (July 8th – 12th, 2013)

J. D. Institute is offering a Free Ministry Intensive Training Course this July 8th - 12th. The Ministry Summer Fellowship at J. D. Institute is a weeklong intensive training program geared toward Pastors, Ministers, Missionaries, Evangelist and Lay Leaders in local congregations. This training program will help leaders develop ministry skills in actual clinical settings, combining the theory of Christian ministry with ministry practice.

Training will take place in group sessions, seminars, and at actual clinical sites. Learn the theory behind biblical interpretation, Christian theology and doctrine, and aspects of Christian ministry. How should Christian leaders engage in effective ministry in a 21st century social-political climate? This program will address such issues paying close attention to the historical development of the Christian Church from its inception through the development of the modern Black Church movement.

CHOOSE FROM TWO TRAINING MODULES

  • General Ministry Training – with extended clinical training
  • Black Church Studies – with extended clinical training

Intensives are supervised by Dr. Jamal-Dominique Hopkins, Director of J.D. Institute and Visiting Professor of Bible and Theology at Victory University in Memphis, TN. A 2010 Wabash Center Fellow, Hopkins has lectured and presented research at Princeton Theological Seminary, Emory University, the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) and at the W.E.B. DuBois Society at Harvard University. His most recent publication is Thinking Out Loud: Thoughts and Reflections on Life, Faith, Culture and Crisis (Journal Publication, 2013).  Hopkins is a former Biblical Studies Professor at the Interdenominational Theological Center (Atlanta, GA) and at Crichton College (Memphis, TN). A graduate of Howard University and Fuller Theological Seminary, he holds a Ph.D. in Religions and Theology from the University of Manchester (England).

Participation in seminars is free!
