Dr. Jamal-Dominique Hopkins to Guest Speak

Black news from Pasadena - Religion - Dr. Hopkins to guest speak - Thinking Out Loud by Dr. Jamal-Dominique HopkinsAfter reviewing the scholarly accomplishments of Dr. Jamal-Dominique Hopkins, The Tri-State Defender in Memphis, Tennessee called Dr. Hopkins a "World Class Theologian". The Washington Post, in a 2013 article about Dr. Hopkins, wrote that Hopkins was discriminated against for essentially standing up for his ". . . Christian Views." Dr. Hopkins has been written up in numerous articles and papers for standing tall for his Christian views.

You are invited to come out and hear this Pasadena native who has an accomplished world class acclaim. He will guest preach at Scott United Methodist Church, located at 444 N. Orange Grove Blvd., in Pasadena, CA, on Sunday July 7, and July 14, 2013, Rev. Dr. James E. Stevenson, Sr., pastor. (See their ad in the Pasadena Journal). Dr. Hopkins will also present a seminar for pastors and ministers on July 13th at St, Stevens COGIC in San Diego, CA, Bishop George D. McKinney, pastor.

Hopkins career began in the Pasadena Schools where he graduated from Pasadena High School and Pasadena City College. He then graduated from Howard University with a Bachelors Degree in communications. Hopkins returned to Pasadena to earn a Master's degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. His pursuit for excellence continued in England at the University of Manchester where he earned a Ph.D. in Theology.

Since that time Hopkins has taught and lectured across the United States and Europe presenting papers in England, Scotland, Ireland, Austria, Italy and Slovenia. He has taught at The Interdenominational Theological Seminary, Azusa Pacific University, Memphis Theological Seminary and Crichton College in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Hopkins, who is an expert on the Dead Sea Scroll, has authored numerous articles including an exciting look at Theology entitled, "Reverse the Curse." His new book, Thinking Out Loud, is available at the Journal offices (1541 N. Lake Avenue, Suite A, Pasadena, CA 91104). He is the founder of J.D. Institute and the Institute for Advanced African American Christian Thought, Inc., two organization dedicated to promoting the growth of a theologically literate Black Christian public.
