Carport and Structure Fire

Black news from Pasadena - Community News - Fire damages carport and structurePasadena Fire responded to a well involved carport fire at 5:30 a.m. on July 9, 2013 on the 100 block of Chester Avenue/Union with smoke showing from several miles away.

The carport was totaled and the attached back house is uninhabitable.

One adult male was displaced from the back house and an adult couple in the front house escaped without injury.

Four cars were damaged (two under the carport sustained heavy damage and two in a nearby apartment were damaged by radiant heat).

Additionally, several windows were broken in the nearby apartment from the heat.

Fortunately, there were no injuries.

Thirty-three fire personnel on-scene comprised of two trucks, one rescue ambulance and five engines. It took twenty minutes to knockdown the fire which resulted in $400,000 structural damage and $100,000 content damages. 

Please be reminded to take precautions in order to prevent fire damage.
