On Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Sixth Annual Health Summit will be held at the Jackie Robinson Community Center (JRC), 1020 N. Fair Oaks Blvd, Pasadena, CA. This family event has something for everyone! The day will start at 8:00 a.m. with a 5K Walk that is being led by Walking 4 Mommy. This walk will move through the streets of Pasadena and will highlight vaginal cancer.
When guests return from the walk, they will find the Health Summit in full swing with FREE Tests and Screenings for Mammograms, Eye Exams, Hearing Tests, Kidney Disease, Flu Shots, HIV Tests and much more. Please sign up in advance for your FREE Mammogram by going to aka-elo.org and click on 'Our Community'. Information on diseases that heavily impact our community like heart disease, asthma, Alzheimer's and more will be available. Visit 'Ask the Pharmacist' to get questions on medicines and mixing of medicines answered!
Additions to this year's event are Pediatrician's Corner, a Blood Donor Drive, Fiscal Fitness Station, the Walking 4 Mommy 5K Walk, and Healthy Food, Healthy You Village. In Pediatrician's Corner, we'll help you understand the test results that your children have received. Since financial health impacts physical health, Fiscal Fitness Station will help teach tricks to become financially healthy. We are what we eat, but statistics show that we are not eating right. Healthy Food, Healthy You Village will help to bend this curve by showing you what healthy food is, teaching you how to read nutrition information and how to cook food in a healthy manner. In order to donate blood, please sign up at redcrossblood.org, Sponsor Code: healthsummit.
With the industry changing Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) moving into its next phase on October 1, 2013, it's important for everyone to understand what Obamacare really is and the steps that each person should take to benefit from Obamacare. Mary Donnelly Crocker with Young & Healthy will speak at 11:00 a.m. in the auditorium at JRC on "Obamacare & You."
This event is for the whole family with Kidz Zone, line dancing, workout routines for everyone, Double Dutch, and a Wii Fit Station where you can play different games. Items will be raffled throughout the day, and the grand prize that is donated by the Pasadena Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta is a Wii Fit Station.
