December Topic: Does Christmas Have a Price Tag?
It's time to 'tis the season, to have goodwill towards men, give, and share in the glorious tradition of being merry; it's Christmas! Many people are busy hanging stockings, lighting the tree, and promptly after Thanksgiving trampling over others and using whatever means necessary to get your family member what they have been longing for. Yes, Consumerism is alive and thriving in America. I confess I have a deeply problematic shoe addiction, and getting through black Friday and cyber Monday is a struggle. However, isn't it weird how after Thanksgiving: the one day that we are supposed to celebrate what we have been blessed with and break bread together, we see Big Red four lettered word signs outside our favorite stores, and we instantly forget about the joyous celebration of thankfulness.
My question is this: Does Christmas Have a Price Tag? In this generation, the next big thing is always more important then community, family, and unity. How much will it cost to go back to basics? What's the price for people to start realizing the true meaning of Christmas and sharing it with others? Yes, getting presents for Christmas is great, but it is better to give than to receive. Christ; that is what Christmas is about. And Jesus is the staple representation of putting others before your self. At all costs, don't be so commercial this Christmas, but engage in the joy that you have the special people in your life. They will last much longer than the new electronic device you've had your eye on. And for that . . . Priceless! Happy Holidays!
