Boxer Statement on Republican’s Vote to Block Extension of Unemployment Insurance

More Than 250,000 Californians Rely on Unemployment Insurance While They Continue to Look for Work

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) spoke on the floor today immediately after Senate Republicans voted to block the extension of emergency unemployment insurance to 1.4 million Americans and 250,000 Californians.

"They demanded amendments, we gave them amendments. They demanded pay-fors, we gave them pay-fors," Senator Boxer said.

"I have to say what I think is going on. They don't want to extend unemployment compensation for the long-term unemployed."
