Lena L. Kennedy will conclude the YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley's 2009 Women of Excellence Leadership Speaker Series. Mark your calendars for November 19 from 11:30am to 1:00pm at the Donald R. Wright Auditorium in the Pasadena Central Library.
This is your opportunity to hear from a local Pasadena woman about her passion and dedication that took her all the way to the First Family!
For almost 30 years, Lena has worked closely with political leaders, and her goal for them has never changed: to mount a political, media, or community campaign that is second to none. A key part of her winning strategy includes developing a grassroots community-outreach program that enables her clients to connect with influential civic leaders, union representatives, corporate executives, civil-liberties activists, and leading local clergy people.
Those who have benefited from her expertise include: President Barack Obama; former Vice President Al Gore; Jesse Jackson; Congresswoman Diane Watson; Congressman Adam Schiff; California State Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, Assembly member Mervyn Dymally, and State Senator Carol Liu. Honoring and recognizing the talent and influence of female leaders has been at the heart of the YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley since our beginning in 1909. In 2007, the YWCA began the Women of Excellence Leadership Speaker Series to honor these formidable women. California Secretary of State, Debra Bowen, began the series in 2007 and most recently we welcomed notable business journalist and author, Suzy Welch.
Tickets for the event are $25 in advance, $35 at the door. Purchase online at www.ywca.org/lenakennedy or call Ashley at 626-296-8433. Proceeds from the event will support YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley programs for girls and women.
