Proceeds Will Help Support Junior League's Mission of Community Support and Voluntarism
On Saturday, April 12, the Junior League of Pasadena, Inc. (JLP) will host their first annual benefit luncheon, Simply Speaking, at the University Club of Pasadena. The event will highlight guest speaker and organizational expert Peter Walsh, star of the popular TLC network TV program "Clean Sweep" and author of several best-selling books on clutter and organization. The event will feature a seated lunch, silent auction and a donation drawing.
In addition, the 2014 recipient of the Nancy Reed Payne Achievement Award will be announced acknowledging a sustaining member for her exceptional contribution and years of dedication to the Junior League and to her community. Simply Speaking luncheon tickets can be purchased at $125 for general seating or $175 for preferred seating. All funds raised through the event will directly benefit the Junior League of Pasadena and their community partners and projects.
Founded in 1926, the Junior League of Pasadena's mission has consisted of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the local community. Throughout its 88-year history, the JLP has helped to create programs that leave a long-lasting impact on the Pasadena community. Past JLP projects include Kidspace Children's Museum, the docent program at the Huntington Library, and La Casita at Madison Elementary in Northwest Pasadena.
Currently, members of the Junior League of Pasadena serve as guides for the Pasadena Unified School District's My Masterpieces art enrichment program for second grade students and as literacy volunteers for the Mothers' Club Early Readers program; as well as donating countless and much needed hours of community service at local nonprofit organizations throughout Los Angeles County and the San Gabriel Valley through the Junior League of Pasadena's Done In A Day volunteer projects program.
