LAAAWPPI Reception - Kicking Off a Series of New Leadership Networking Mixers

Black news from Pasadena - Community - Los Angeles African American Women's Public Policy Institute - mixersLos Angeles, CA - April 7, 2014 - The Los Angeles African American Women's Public Policy (LAAAWPPI) recently launched a series of leadership networking mixers. The women learned about purposeful leadership from African American women who are making a difference in their communities. The inaugural mixer featured Charisse Bremond Weaver, CEO of Brotherhood Crusade, Laphonza Butler, President of SEIU – Unite Long Term Care Workers, and Kimberly Freeman, Assistant Dean of Diversity Issues and Community Relations for the Anderson School of Business at UCLA.

[Introduced in 2002, LAAAWPPI is a non-partisan, non-profit organization whose mission is to increase the numbers of African American women in leadership positions in the public policy, civic and political arenas by providing professional development through educational programs, seminars and workshops. Hosted on the campus of the University of Southern California, the program components consist of intensive classroom study including role-play and evaluation of leadership skills, as well as panel presentations with academic, corporate, public policy, public affairs and community leaders.]
