Are you Ready for Christmas?

African American news from Pasadena - Ask Pastor Glovioell"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)

"Are you ready for Christmas?"

That's all I've heard in days past.
What they really mean is, "Have I purchased all my presents, and finished at last!"

To me, that question is a real thrill!
My special answer comes out at will!

I comment, in part, by saying, "I'm ready in my heart!"
Each time I respond in that fashion, the listener reacts with a start!
I have joy, joy, joy inside me that infuses every part!

Isn't that where Christmas begins?
By rejoicing that God sent his only son to cleanse us from our sins!

Praise him for that Immaculate Birth!
That's how much, in God's eyes, we're worth!

As I meditate on His goodness to me, I thank him for Christ's ultimate victory!

Am I ready for Christmas?-Oh yes, Oh yes!
I remember that awesome day, when I accepted Christ, was the best!

God sent his only son to earth because he loved me first!

"For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

" Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."
(Romans 5:7-9)

Dear Pastor Glovioell,
You definitely helped me to stop being a 'wishy-washy' Christian.  I would be one way with my family and another way with my friends.  Who wants to be an outcast?  Man, it hurts to be left out!

Then it happened.  My car tumbled over the side of the cliff in Angeles National Forest.  The car was packed with about 8 of us.   One person was permanently disabled!  His leg had to be amputated.  Dam_ that hurt.  I knew I shouldn't have been driving at age 16 without a license.  My hommies dared me!

The disabled friend forgave me.  He was high himself.  He was glad he didn't die.  He does all kinds of stuff with his prosthesis.  He can outrun me!

I gave up looking at peer pressure.  It's not worth it.  I'm Saved.  I got filled with the Holy Spirit. I trust God more than all the stuff this 'bling, bling' world has to offer.  I can't believe it's been a whole year later.  I keep reading your column.  It's all about living this Word!  I am the same way in and out of my parent's eyes.

I sing in the Praise Team!  My life has purpose.  So I got it.  With every breath I take, I give God praise!

Signed, Sing a new song

Dear Sing a New Song,
"O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory." (Psalm 98:1)

"O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth.

"Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.

"Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people." (Psalm 96:1-3)
