Who's Resolution, Yours or His?

African American news from Pasadena - Godly FitnessThe feedback from readers of this writing from last January was such that I've decided to offer it as a start to the dawning of yet  another new year for us as many a believer is poised to roll up their proverbial sleeves and get busy with a declared resolve to do some things different in 2010.  I think this is great,  Jesus  in the bible instructs that we should declare a thing, and if we do it with unwavering faith, and without doubting, than we will have what we say (Mathew 21:21).

The issue it seems arises when we grow tired and disillusioned with what we say we want and from there begin to rationalize our way out of our self-imposed commitments; finding it easier somehow to stomach the contentment of defeat over the thrill and edification of allowing God's resolve to work for us.  The word resolution is defined as a formal opinion or intention made, the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc.  It is the mental state of being resolved or resolute with firmness of purpose.  Here once again, we can look to the Apostle Paul's lifestyle as an example and instruction for our success with the process of resolution.

He Paul writes in Philemon 1:6 (Amplified Bible): [And I pray] that the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good [thing] that is ours in [our identification with] Christ Jesus [and unto His glory].  And in 1 Corinthians 3:9 (Amplified Bible) Paul declares: For we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God; you are God's garden and vineyard and field under cultivation, [you are] God's building.

Saints, if we keep these truths at the forefront of our resolutions (New Year or otherwise) then we can count on the achievement of victory inherent  in the word of God as it is found in Colossians 3:10 where it states: And having put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.

You see it is the communication of our trust in the Triune God's ability to honor such faith that is the determiner of the level and effectiveness we achieve with a resolution; not our ability to "white knuckle it" or pull upon any vain attempt at "self-willpower".  That being said, if you are a believer and your ambition is to declare a New Year's resolution for 2009, especially to lose weight and or be fit, why not do it God's way?  The instruction for such has been laid before you.

If you’re not active exercise wise, remember to start slow and build from where you are; and see a Dr. first if you have any level of a health challenge.

Well that’s my time for this time; if this subject interests you, please join me next time when I’ll share more regarding the awesome benefits of getting and being fit God’s way!
