The State of the State: Special Guest Speaker Assemblymember Anthony Portantino
NATHA invites everyone to join us in our first annual Community Town Hall and Open House 2010. It will provide residents with an opportunity to meet their neighbors, to find out more about the NATHA community center and resources, to explore opportunities for involvement, and to have a candid discussion with one of our elected representatives: Assemblymember Anthony Portantino. The discussion will center on relevant issues regarding the “State of the State” and how they are impacting our local community, and will provide attendees the opportunity to ask questions. It will take place on February 4, 2010 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the NATHA Community Resource Center, located at 456 West Montana Street, Pasadena, CA 91103. Light refreshments will be provided.
Residents will also have the opportunity to find out more about NATHA and its activity in the neighborhood. NATHA has, for the last 19 years, assisted area residents in the advocacy and development of Northwest Pasadena, better known as the Lincoln Village, in order to create a healthy, safe, and drug-free community. NATHA accomplishes this work through a community collaborative comprised of representatives from different community sectors including law enforcement, education, business, government, and community based organizations.
NATHA also delivers direct programming and services through its Youth Development Program and its Community Development Program. NATHA’s after-school Youth Academy and Youth Leadership Group provide youth grades K-12 with opportunities to develop self-sufficiency, enhance skills, and to make healthy life choices. NATHA’s community development work is based on grassroots community organizing and consensus-based responses to some of the most pressing issues in our neighborhood.
