Exercising By The Power Of His Might

African American news from Pasadena - Godly FitnessIs there anyone besides me who is challenged with restarting their lifestyle of exercise and right nutrition after the holidays?    I generally take a break from my habitual routine of exercising and eating right during the holidays (the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas) each year.  That being said, this past years break was something special; I started my layoff two weeks before Thanksgiving and I just got back to my routine this past Monday…

I'll have to confess that  I was forced to wonder if I could or would or even have the will to pick things back up again. It's true folks, Mr. Godly Fitness here was stuck in a rut and I for the first time in a great many years entertained the thought of living a sedentary lifestyle…  But how would that work, I'd have to deny the assignment from God to share with His people the unique benefits of Godly Fitness, as most folk find it an extra burden to do as someone says and not as they do, and worse when they are doing the total opposite of their words.

So having no option but to somehow get back on the wagon, what was there to do?  That's right, it was time to pray.  But what to pray for?  For guidance and instruction, and most importantly, I prayed that God would show me the root cause of my challenge, because it is only at that juncture that the battle can be successfully waged.   Ok, here we go - What is it that God showed me?  What was the root cause and then, the instruction to follow in order to overcome it?  Well, he showed me that I was denying His Power, specifically I "missed the use" of His power.

Ephesians 6:10 exhort us to "…be strong in the Lord and in the POWER of His might."  Well you only need to look back at the first two paragraphs of this writing to confirm that as always The Good Lord is right; every other word is me, my or I… The question then is whenever you or I are relying exclusively on ourselves, is there any wonder why we can't see clear to win the battle in our minds and do that which we desired to do, much like Paul's struggle in Romans 7:15?

Finally, allow me to persuade you whenever you're in a situation where you're up against a challenge in which you know the Lord would want you to win; to simply deny any self-perception of a solution, and instead allow yourself to be empowered through your union with Him, drawing your wisdom and strength from Him, the kind of strength which only His boundless might provides, the benefits of which you have just read.

Well that’s my time for this time; if this subject interests you, please join me next time when I’ll share more regarding the awesome benefits of getting and being fit God’s way!
