Moved By What I Can't See

African American news from Pasadena - Godly FitnessGranted, the will and ability to exercise regularly and eat right are disciplines most of us don't possess. Ever wonder why? Well science says it is because we are creatures whose subconscious nature (after we've done all that's needed for survival) is simply to find balance in our lives and at the point we perceive that we  have it; our only mission is to maintain that sense of balance, and putting forth the effort to be fit is outside this natural balance or comfort zone.
The problem is that the maintaining of this balance is deemed as good and on the surface seems to be all we need to live strong and healthy lives, yet it is not. It is not because this sense of balance is one that is adopted from a damaged and or deceptive idea based on what we can see, touch, smell, taste and hear.

Don't get me wrong, our five natural senses (a part of god's design for us) are great for navigating our way through life as it relates to identifying the basics we need for survival. But God has made it possible for the believer to do more than just survive; He's provided a power and ability to thrive which we obtain by exercising faith and trust in Him.

Too often we stop our "go getting" after we've achieved "survival mode", or the satisfying of the five senses which can be tricked and fooled into making us believe we have obtained "thrive mode". For example, our stomach and brain don't really know the difference between what is good and right for us nutritionally and what simply satisfies the hunger urge. Survival mode says "mission accomplished" after we've gorged ourselves at the neighborhood die-through, I mean drive-through. And thrive mode hasn't had a chance to apply itself because it just isn't necessary when we merely are looking to feel our bellies.

So how do we get this thrive mode working on our behalf? We have to go get it at the place where it resides - the spirit realm. The scripture instructs that "we walk by faith and not by sight". We must train and condition ourselves to see the invisible (God's extended hand, continuously pointing us in the right direction), and before that, equip ourselves with constant meditations about what are the best and better things to eat and the awesome life enhancing benefits of exercising regularly.

When this is done often and ong enough, to a point where it becomes habit; then we have the ability to look and see the things that are not seen i.e., God's choices for us, choices that lead to life and Godliness, and the conviction to deny those things God would urge us to leave alone – that lend to sin and death (separation from Him now, and perhaps a premature face to face with Him as reward for settling for less than He has provided for you?

Well that's my time for this time; if this subject interests you, please join me next time when I'll share more regarding the awesome benefits of getting and being fit God's way!

If you're not active exercise wise, remember to start slow and build from where you are; and see a Dr. first if you have any level of a health challenge.
