. . . Her 104th Birthday with the Help of Other Centenarians

African American news from Pasadena - Community - Rosie Tilles celebrates 104th birthdayLos Angeles, California -- Members of the First AME Chruch of Los Angeles joined family and friends of Rosie Tilles who will celebrated her 104th Birthday on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Saint John of God Retirement and Care Center. She was joined by her two friends who are both centenarians Ruby Norman, age 103, and Eleanor Waller, age 102.  Among the special guests were the Reverend Cecil L. Chip Murray who served as their pastor for 27 years and the current pastor of First AME Church of Los Angeles, Pastor J. Edgar Boyd.



NVISION Youth Basketball Tournament at Rosemead Park

- Woodcraft Rangers Holds its NVISION Regional Basketball Tournament -

African American news from Pasadena - Community - Annual NVISION Regional Basketball TournamentLos Angeles, CA – On Saturday morning October 11th, over 150 NVISION youth descended upon Rosemead Park in the city of Rosemead from the Garvey School District and the East Whittier District for a regional basketball tournament. It became a day of competition for every child participating in the Woodcraft Rangers NVISION programs. There was a vast presence of parents, school administrators and people from the community taking in the event. Boys and girls from elementary and middle schools took part in a regional basketball competition held by Woodcraft in preparation for the agency wide tournament that will be held on October 25th in Los Angeles at John Liecthy Middle School that will hold over 450 youth participants.
