Sunday, November 7, 2010, Tony Hicks of the Black Parent Union (BPU) based in Inglewood, CA and vocal advocate for education reform and equitable education for African-American children will be the Guest Speaker at Scott United Methodist Church starting at 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The address is 444 No Orange Grove Blvd., Pasadena.
The African-American Families Student Support Group is hosting this forum for Black parents/families interested in working together to create and facilitate school based Black parent groups to function as a conduit between the Pasadena Unified School District and African-American families in encouraging student educational achievement, nurturing cultural awareness, respect, pride and communication.
The forum is sponsored by the Scott United Methodist Church Outreach Ministry. All parents are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
