Films at CAAM : "Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child"

Showing at the California African American Museum on Thursday, April 28, 2011, 7:00 p.m. is the film "Jean-Michel Basquiat:  The Radiant Child" (2010). 

Tamra Davis, who shot footage of Jean-Michel Basquiat over twenty years ago, has created the definitive documentary chronicling the meteoric rise and fall of this young artist. 

In the 1970s, he covers the city of New York with a Neo-Expressionist graffiti. 

By 1983, Basquiat is an artist with “rock star” status. 

By 1988, he is devoured by the fame he craved and dies at the age of twenty-seven. 

Running time; 88 minutes.
