'A Summer Concert Performance'

The VYMA Music Project @ Longfellow Elementary, PUSD, was launched on September 21, 2009 as an afterschool supplemental music education program. The project is inspired by El Sistema, the successful Venezuelan music education model that produced LA Philharmonic Music Director Gustavo Dudamel.

Verdugo Young Musicians Association (VYMA) partnered with Pasadena LEARNs to give free instruments and free classical music instruction to students from grade 1-6 to form a string orchestra and a choir. With each concert we can hear how the musicians have progressed, mastering pieces that are more and more complex.
