The California Wellness Foundation Makes $35,000 Grants Available to Health Nonprofits


The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF) is now accepting applications for its 2010 Sabbatical Program Award. The $35,000 grant enables health nonprofit executives to spend up to six months away from the workplace getting much needed time off. The deadline for applications is Friday, February 19, 2010.

The program offers $30,000 grants payable to health-sector nonprofit organizations for salaries and benefits and up to $5,000 for the professional development of managers and staff who will assume additional responsibilities in the executive's absence. Sabbatical award honorees will be notified by October 2010.

The California Wellness Foundation is a private, independent foundation created in 1992 with the mission of improving the health of the people of California by making grants for health promotion, wellness education and disease prevention. The Foundation prioritizes eight issues for funding: diversity in the health professions, environmental health, healthy aging, mental health, teenage pregnancy prevention, violence prevention, women's health, and work and health.
TCWF also responds to timely issues or special projects outside of the funding priorities. Since 1992, TCWF has awarded 5,828 grants totaling more than $735 million.
