Altadena Baptist Church Sponsoring the 26th Annual Black History Celebration
Feb.21.2010 05.00PM - 07.00PM

Rising journalist and social commentator, Cameron Turner, will be the keynote speaker at the 26th annual Black History Celebration sponsored by Altadena Baptist Church.

The Pasadena native attended public schools before earning a Bachelors Degree in Communications at Stanford University. His columns appear regularly in The Pasadena Journal and two web sites: UrbanThoughtCollective.com and EURweb.com. He currently appears in the groundbreaking KNBC news program, "The Filter with Fred Roggin."

The 26th Annual Black History Celebration will be held Sunday, February 21, 5:00 PM to 7 PM at Altadena Baptist Church (ABC), 791 East Calaveras St., Altadena, CA 91001.

Under the guidance of musician/producer Billy Mitchell, a variety of artists will contribute selections from African-origin societies, dramatizing the many ways in which the music and other art forms of Africa have influenced world cultures. Performers will include Kenyan recording artist Anindo, world-renowned Brazilian percussionist, Mayuto Correa, and the Billy Mitchell Ensemble. Charles Dickerson, Director of the Southeast Symphony, will present his Inner City Youth Ensemble of LA.

As one of the most thoroughly integrated congregations in the Pasadena area, ABC traditionally celebrates the African-American experience through this annual event. The Celebration will be followed by a soul-food dinner for all attending.

The event and the dinner will be free. A voluntary offering will be received which will be donated to Haiti earthquake relief, through the World Vision organization.
