Experience Films at the California African American Museum (CAAM): “Ethnic Notions” (running time:  56 minutes) a 1989 Emmy Award winning documentary directed by Marlon Riggs. 

Take a historical voyage through the deep-rooted negative stereotypes of African Americans.  Since the 1800s African Americans were center stage for the most stereotypical caricatures on American television. 

In this documentary explore how caricatures shaped the views of others toward African Americans in this documentary. 

This event is free and open to the public at 600 State Drive, Exposition Park, Los Angeles, 90037.
