In 1961, a warm-hearted Pasadena woman named Mara Moser set out on a crusade to befriend lonely, overwhelmed mothers. Her vision of a place where mothers find friendship, support and encouragement, and critical social interactions for their children is alive today at Mothers' Club Family Learning Center. On October 22, 2011, Mothers' Club will celebrate 50 years of serving vulnerable families with a festive evening of music, dancing, food, beverages, a silent auction, and much more.
The event will be held at the non-profit's "sustainable" learning center at 980 N. Fair Oaks Avenue.
The "tasting party" will feature food stations and signature cocktails provided by local eateries, including a/k/a (an American Bistro), Amy's Patio Café, Green Street Restaurant, Noor, Pie 'n Burger, The Spot Gourmet Catering, Sugar Fix Bakery, Tender Greens, and Toro Sushi.
Mothers' Club Family Learning Center prepares families living in isolation and poverty to succeed in school and in life through two-generation learning programs. Mothers' Club programs are comprised of high quality, research-based early childhood education for children ages 0-5, and comprehensive services for parents, including parent education, leadership training, adult literacy, vocational exploration, and mental health support and interventions.
