Description

Thursday, November 17, 2011 - Films At CAAM: Politics and Activism – Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin.

The California African American Museum presents "Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin" to highlight the life of a civil rights activist less known to the public.

Once an advisor to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rustin organized the March on Washington and took on Jim Crow laws. Rustin was denied public recognition for his activism in civil rights for one reason – his sexuality. Behind the scenes of the civil rights movement, Rustin fought intensely with a non-violent approach, for the rights of blacks and gays across America.

This event is free and open to the public.

CAAM is located at 600 State Drive, Exposition Park, Los Angeles, CA 90037.
