Solar Eclipse on Sunday May 20


Come on up to Haramokngna to experience the annular solar eclipse on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 1 p.m. to sundown.  Learn about traditional Native American astronomy and star stories.

The eclipse begins about 5:30 p.m. with a Tataviam sing - so bring your drum, clappersticks, gourd rattles, conch shells, and help chase away the creature trying to eat the sun.

Look through a professional telescope . . . or bring your own!  There will be filters for viewing the eclipse safely.

Throughout the day, we will do sun and star activities and We will have family friendly sunshine activities:

There will be sun tea, coffee, and snacks.

Suggested donation of $5 for adults, $3 for children.

Please carpool, and bring your own chair.

Location: Angeles Crest Highway & Mt. Wilson Road in the Angeles National Forest, 14 miles north of the 210 freeway at La Canada. Go to for a map.  An Adventure Pass is required for parking in the National forest.
