Altadena's new Community Arts Center, located at 2460 North Lake Avenue and Mariposa Street, is a project developed by The Altadena Arts Council.
It will officially open its doors on Sunday, December 16th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with its inaugural event, "Artists From the North", an exhibition that will, fittingly, feature works by artists from the Altadena, Pasadena and Foothill area communities.
Executive Director Mary Ann Stevenson indicates that, "After so many years of operating out of our home, we (she and co-founder, Gene Stevenson) wanted to make the first official event in our own facility, the new Altadena Community Arts Center, one which serves as a tribute to the many talented artists residing in our community who struggle, as we do, for the love of art."
The Community Arts Center is hosting an opening reception for the artists exhibited. The public will also have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction that will serve as a fundraiser for the center. Gift certificates donated by Altadena and Pasadena businesses will be part of the auction.
Additionally, one of a kind Christmas themed ornaments, created especially for the event, will be available for purchase.
The Altadena Arts Council serves as an advocate to promote arts and cultural programs, services and activities for Altadena artists and residents. Arts education for children and youth is a priority of the organization in helping to strengthen the cultural, educational, economic and social richness of our community.
The exhibit runs from December 16 through January 18, 2013. Gallery days and hours: Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m.; Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
