We are pleased to announce that multi-talented singer and musician (and local favorite), Chelsea J., has just released her debut album, MOON SPIRIT across all streaming platforms. We promise you that her music is not something you want to miss out on. Chelsea J was once a youth writer for the Pasadena Journal, and has continued to amaze the world with her artistry and talent.
Chelsea’s music is a reflection of her life, with songs that range from upbeat and positive to vibey and contemplative reflections. With over 9k streams on her song "Stretch" and over 10k streams on her most recent single "Sensational," Chelsea's storytelling through song has captivated audiences. Her EP “Baby Girl” was a new introduction to the Alternative R&B sphere which scored her a placement on All-American in 2019. Some of the themes of her album ‘Mood Spirit’ are related to coming of age, “being by yourself, thinking about your life, falling in and out of love, friendships”. Chelsea says that she experienced the loss of her grandmother, who she was very close to, and during that time music was her escape, her sanctuary, and “helped me at the most difficult times in my life”. She describes Moon Spirit as a Metamorphosis, evolving through storytelling, after experiencing grief, life’s growing pains. When asked what she would like people to know or gather from her music? Chelsea says that when you begin to feel alone “you’re not, and someone else might be going through the same or similar thing. I want people to know that it’s ok to be confident, it’s ok to love on yourself, gas yourself up! Sometimes you have to be your own boyfriend, and there’s no shame in that”. Releasing an album can be one of the most exciting and nerve-wracking moments for any musician. It is a culmination of months, if not years, of hard work and dedication. Through all of life’s challenges Chelsea says that she continues to focus on “remembering the why, and that no one can take anything from you if you remember why you love it, and have a passion for it. It’s [music industry] a tough business, and there’s a lot of rejection so you have to keep your head up. I believe that you had to have those no’s to get where you are now”.
