On Saturday, May 12, 2012, the Pasadena Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is hosting the 24th Annual Fashionetta Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Glendale Hilton. This fundraising event, that will recognize the 2012 scholarship recipients from schools in the Pasadena/Altadena area and honor Ms. Lena Kennedy as Mother of the Year, promises to be a fun and entertaining day for the whole family.
Fashions are being brought to us by the creative, dynamic owners of The Velvet Monkey. This Los Angeles based design team of Diane and Kasandra was founded on a Fashion Idea of Freedom and Sophistication. The Velvet Monkey is known for their unique denim concepts where they strive to maintain a sense of originality in their artistic concepts. This designing team creates timeless outfits and caters to 'real' women, no matter the size. For Fashionetta, this team is excitedly working with other designers to creatively bring different scenes and fashions to life that will surely excite and entertain women of all ages.
Musical entertainment for this event will be provided by Marvelous Marvin. Pianist Marvin Lee Jones is a native of Los Angeles, California where he can currently be found entertaining guests with his musical repertoire at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. His passion for music has earned him praise and recognition as a pianist and keyboardist, blending the influences of R&B, classical, pop, and world music. He brings with him a diverse repertoire that spans several generations from Sinatra to Santana; Billie Holliday to Bill Withers; Ellington to Elton; Aretha to Alicia; John Lennon to John Legend. To add to this wide range of music, he will also provide a colorful collection of original compositions. Marvelous Marvin promises to truly entertain you while you're enjoying your day with family and friends.
This day is designed to award Pasadena area scholarships recipients and honor mothers while you're enjoying a wonderful afternoon of family, food, fashion and fun which is a great way to celebrate Mother's Day weekend.
